Alternative Learning Centre Launch

4/04/2014

Emerald's Alternative Learning Centre (ALC) is giving students in the Central Highlands new educational opportunities. This new community partnership offers a flexible learning environment for those struggling to fit into mainstream education. Students will be able to complete core language, literacy and numeracy requirements for a sound achievement equivalent to Year 10 before moving onto further studies.

Mrs Shirley Puckering and Mrs Sheree Campbell work closely with the Alternative Learning Centre Co-ordinator Karen Bray, and are developing personalised student programs.  The partnership also includes the Australian Agricultural College, Zero Harm Safety and Training, and the Emerald Neighbourhood Centre.

The ALC provides opportunities for young people to participate in workplace and community learning, reaching their full potential and gaining employment.
