Year 4 Camp 2015

Sixteen year four students and fourteen adults attended the Year 4 Camp to Camp Fairbairn from the 10th to the 14th August. Everyone had a fantastic time with students participating in a variety of activities including problem solving and leadership. Some of the fun activities included fishing, climbing wall, possum glider, BMX riding, canoeing, raft design and building, a surprise-party night for the adults, quiz night and other group activities.

On Tuesday night we had a ‘camp out’. We had to build our own shelters for the evening from ropes, sticks and tarps. We dined on ‘kangaroo stew’ and toasted marshmallows around the campfire. After dinner, we looked at Saturn through the telescope. Some of us had to brave the dark and navigate our way to our primitive bathrooms. Even though some of us were out of our comfort zone, we survived.

It was all ‘hands on deck’ with the building of a raft, which then had to be tested and entered in a race around the buoy in the shallows of the dam. The competition was fierce and a water-fight erupted between the teams. Parents watched with intent as Mrs Radcliffe and Miss Sait bravely entered the water to test a raft for themselves. Unfortunately, the teachers had to abandon ship!
